July 2011. Newsletter 35. Hello everyone. Yes! 6 months late with this Newsletter, but I'm at home in Bathurst, at one of my favorite Coffee Shops, writing madly to catch you up on what's happening.
2010 was a very memorable year, and lots happened with my music. I got quite creative and composed quite a few new tunes, some OK and other I "decomposed"! Played at lots of great Festivals and it was good to catch up with so many of you at Mildura again, after having a 3 year break. Since then I've been busy preparing material for my new CD, trying some songs at home, and at live performances. I've also been doing some much needed maintenance on my old 1860's house and garden.
Earlier this year (2011), at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, I had my 2 Concerts at my new venue, opposite the Golden Guitar, the Uniting Church Hall, (so I had to behave myself!) Considereing there was so much on, the concerts were very successful, and it was great to have the CWA ladies catering again. Even I thought I played OK, so that's something!! I will be back there again 2012, but after 24 years, it will probably be my last time.
Since February, I've been working on my latest CD, (number11!), and even though some people suggested I name it "Past my use-by Date", it's actually called "Keys to the Country". As usual, some of your requests, (even some I've never heard of), have been included, but not all! Sorry!! Although the CD has taken a lot more time and work than usual, all has gone well and I'm happy with it. I hope to release it later this month at the Barham Festival, so if you are there, you'll be among the first in the world to get a copy!! When I return from the Festiveal, (about mid Aug), I'll get stuck into sending out all the 1,000's of orders for the new CD, as I have a bit of time at home then.
Played at the Hartwood Festival again at Easter, starting with my "Dancing under the stars" on the Wednesday evening. We even had a full moon!! After all the disasters around Australia recently, we all thought it may be a quieter year, but more people were there than ever! Lots of new fans, quite taken with the whole set-up, asked "How long has this been happening?" As usual everyone had a great time and they are all coming back in 2012, including me!
The last couple of months I've been home in Bathurst, doing family things, catching up with all my friends, (well a couple anyway!!), my new CD, and getting music ready for performances up to January 2012. (Then start again!) Autumn is just so good here, it's beautiful. Makes you feel great, running through our park with Grand daughters Charlee and Matilda. They love kicking the leaves and feeding the ducks! Plus "Annie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlour" is right next door and it has special treats!
Also thanks so much for all the very special and beautiful cards, letters and even poems last year when my mum passed away. I think of her every day, and of course I probably will forever! But as many of you know already, it was also a very special day, as my second Grand daughter Matilda, was born just a few hours later.
Recently I lost a couple of good mates here in Bathurst, who have for many years supported me and my music, also a few fellow musicians passed away earlier this year too. To their families, and to fans who have also lost loves ones, I know it's a tough time, so my thoughts are with you all.
I say it every time, thanks for your friendship, suggestions, cards, gifts, and to those who have helped with many of my shows. Special thanks to all the people who have helped with posters, venues and accommodation and to so many of you for some geat photos I can use on the Website, and actually have used on the new CD, so thanks for that! Thanks also to the Radio Stations for their on-going support.
Hope you all like the new CD and I'll see you soon.
Love you all,
Peter
